GOD
IN HAITI...and BEYOND! "Then I said, 'Alas, Lord
God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, because I am a youth.' But
the Lord said to me, 'Do not say, "I am a youth," because everywhere
I send you, you shall go, and all that I command you, you shall
speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you,'
declares the Lord. Then the Lord stretched out His hand and touched
my mouth, and the Lord said to me, 'Behold, I have put My words in
your mouth.'" Jeremiah 1:6-9 NASB When we received the call to go
to Haiti in April, we were thrilled that God could use US again in
spreading the wonderful truths of the Bible. One of the most intense
weeks of my life followed that invitation as we prepared for going
to a country that was in the midst of food riots! We were actually
too busy to think much about any personal danger as we had travel
arrangements to make, necessities to purchase, and sermons with
French graphics to pull together. The Lord would awaken me at 3 or 4
am and give me the grace to go all day without a break! One of
the things I've noticed as we go on these mission trips is that God
uses even the seemingly inglorious matter of finding funding to
bring blessings! Our first trip to Ghana wasn't fully funded until
about two weeks prior to the departure date. Our immunizations for
going to that tropical country kept bringing me misery as we were
preparing. Driving to town one day to pick up our mail at the Post
Office, feeling tired, ill, and a bit cranky, I said to Loren; "I
know one thing that would make me feel better; finding a check for
$500 in our box!" We had not had that large of a donation in our
fund-raising for the trip. Ten minutes later I plucked a single
small envelope from our box, ripped it open, and found a $500 check
inside!! I laughed for three days. What fun God must have had in
preparing that surprise at that exact moment. Going to Haiti on
one week's notice brought its own challenges and blessings. We left
for Haiti without having enough money to pay our expected hotel
bill. Once again, God proved Himself faithful and thanks to several
of those "thousand ways" He has to provide for us, we had the funds
we needed by the end of our time there. I'm starting to see a theme
on trusting God to take care of me! Being a very shy person
growing up, God has had His work cut out for Him to "touch my mouth"
and put His words there. I've learned that if I stay willing, as
Jesus' mother Mary was, He can use me for things both small and
great. That is my daily desire and choice; to be willing to serve
God. I had that opportunity in Haiti. Sitting on the platform
that first night, my translator leaned over and whispered, "You will
be broadcast on radio live all over Haiti and also on the church's
website." I told him he could have gone all day without telling me
that! But there I was with no other choice but to walk through the
door that God had opened and I prayed to stay within His Presence
while speaking. There are 100 Adventist churches in Port Au
Prince and the largest concentration of Seventh-day Adventists in
Haiti of any country of the world! I find that God's people are a
joy to work with and those in Haiti were no exception. I'm reading
through the adventures of Paul in the book of Acts just now and
realize that he also received great joy in working with God's people
and finding those that were seeking salvation. Imagine; working in
the same manner as the first missionaries of the Christian church!
I was surprised to be speaking at the largest church in Port Au
Prince, which on Sabbaths had from 1,000 to probably 1,500 on the
last day in attendance. The Auditorium church, as it is called, was
celebrating its 40th anniversary and had put an enormous amount of
work into providing a daily Bible class during those 40 days. The
seeds sown during that time resulted in reaping meetings with 80
people giving their hearts to the Lord and following His example in
baptism! Loren's church had 33 baptisms; all praise and glory to God
for what He is able to do! We always felt safe in Haiti, despite
the armed guards at our hotel gate, the walled compounds topped with
razor wire, and the very obvious presence of UN peace keepers in
cars, helicopters, and tanks! Perhaps because of that? I believe
because we KNEW God wanted us there! On every trip I have
contracted a cold and this one was no exception! Loren came down
with a cold the day after we accepted the invitation to Haiti and I
succumbed a week later. In Ghana I had a one day cold, then God
healed it when I stood up to preach! In Ukraine it was a two day
cold, then God healed it. In Haiti I coughed nearly the entire time;
except when I stood up to preach, then I had a clear voice and power
to preach! God NEVER FAILS to give us exactly what we need to bless
others, does He?! So thank you for participating with us and
supporting us through your prayers and sacrificial giving. Every
gift, large or small, is precious to us. We just could not go
without your loving care for us and for those in countries that you
have sent us to like Ghana, Ukraine, and Haiti!
Now we have been asked by The Quiet Hour to go to Papua, New
Guinea in October and speak at two meeting sites there. Once more we
have been given opportunity to work for the Lord in His field and
once more we are asking you to share with us in the reaping meetings
to be held there. THANK YOU for your prayerful consideration of this

Word has been
received as of July 22, 2008 that Papau, New Guinea has cancelled
the scheduled meetings of October 3-18. Please pray that God will
hold the winds a little longer and that His work may go forward in
power and strength while it is yet day.

"The Judgment Day Has Come"
"Opposition to our faith increased in Portland. One evening as we were engaged
in prayer, the window was broken in just above my head, and the glass came down
upon me. I continued praying. One man in his blind rage was cursing and swearing
while we continued to plead with God, that when his indignation should come upon
the shelterless head of the poor sinner, we might be hid in the secret of his
pavilion. The man's voice hushed, and he was seen hastening from the place. He
could not endure the sound of prayer, nor the thought of the judgment.
"Some of our wicked, profane neighbors complained that they were disturbed by
our frequent praying, and we were
several times interrupted by them. One afternoon an officer was sent to visit
us, while some of our neighbors raised their windows to hear the result. Father
was away at his business, and mother stepped to the door. He told her that
complaints had reached him that we disturbed the peace of the neighborhood by
noisy praying, and sometimes praying in the night, and he was requested to
attend to the matter. Mother answered that we prayed morning and night, and
sometimes at noon, and should continue to do so; that Daniel prayed to his God
three times a day, notwithstanding the king's decree.
"He said he had no objection to prayer; if there was more of it in the
neighborhood, it would be better. 'But,' said he, 'they complain of your praying
in the night.' He was told that if any of the family were sick, or in distress
of mind in the night, it was our custom to call upon God for help, and we found
relief. He was referred to our near neighbor who used strong drink. His voice
was often heard cursing and blaspheming God. Why did not the neighbors send you
to him, to still the disturbance he causes in the neighborhood? He serves his
master, we serve the Lord our God. His curses and blasphemy seem not to disturb
the neighbors, while the voice of prayer greatly troubles them. 'Well,' said the
officer, 'what shall I tell them that you will do?' My mother replied, 'Serve
God, let the consequences be what they may.' The officer left, and we had no
further trouble from that quarter.
"A few days after, while our family were quietly engaged in evening prayer, some
young men, imitating the example of their parents, commenced making a noise
around the house. At length they ran for an officer. He came and they told him
to listen. Said he, 'Is this what you have called me out for? That family is
doing what every family ought to do. They are making no disturbance; and if you
call me for this purpose again, I will put you in the lock-up, for disturbing a
peaceable family while attending to their religious duties. After this we were
not molested.
"That summer the neighbors were terrified by frequent thunder and lightning. A
number were instantly killed; and if there was an appearance of a thunderstorm,
some parents sent their children to our house to invite one of the family to
visit them, and stay until the storm was over. The children innocently told the
whole story, saying: 'Ma says the lightning will not strike a house where the
Advent people are.' One night there was a fearful storm. The heavens presented a
continual sheet of lightning. A few rushed from their beds into the street,
calling upon God for mercy, saying, 'The judgment day has come.' My brother
Robert, who was a devoted Christian, was very happy. He went out of the house
and walked to the head of the
street, praising the Lord. He said he never prized the hope of the Christian as
he did that night, when he saw the terror and insecure position of those who had

Cindy's desire...If I could only have the
words and ability to make the cross of Christ real in the heart of my
hearers, I believe that would provide motivation to crucify our own
appetites. How I long for the filling of the Spirit to make my witness
effective! And how I long for God’s people to wake up to the opportunity we
have to be truly a witness to the power of God in our lives—and the benefits
of obedience out of a response to God’s wonderful grace.

Dear Pastor Loren & Mrs. Ethel Price;
I’m sorry for missing to inform and keep contact with you for a long time.
Since May 2 after the tragedy cyclone more than one month I cannot able work
at my office and also the email & internet are inconvenience. By now I could
able work again with my computer with my two email accounts of sailormoon
and mail4u.
We know that we need to work hard for people around us to be ready to meet
the Lord Jesus Christ. Our Adventist’s theme for this year is “Signs of
Hope”. Myanmar Cyclone, China earthquake and all things happen in the world
are warning us fulfilling the prophecy. It is a good time to spread the good
news preparing the second advent of Jesus Christ. I comeback from my native
place visited there with my wife and my son. I would inform you what our
broken hearts God had given us together with the terrible cyclone. You may
sad with us by hearing the news. My two sisters’ families and a nephew
family were working at some villages in Latputter Tsp. My two sisters, one
teenage nice, one teenage nephew, four small nice—all together of eight were
lost their lives together with the storm. A family of four of my nephew and
my brother-in-law and three teenage nephews are saved.

explains that deciding to carry arms puts 'the spiritual and moral foundations
of your life in serious jeopardy.' "

Update on Soo.
It has been three months since Soo called the
end of December, 2007. She is doing well and still faithfully attending the
Seventh-day Adventist church in the Sydney, Australia area and bringing
others with her. She was married to a non-SDA man in January of 2007 and we
pray along with Soo that he will choose to give his heart to the Lord and
they can work together to bring the Good News to her people there in
Australia and in Laos. Please pray for Soo and Osman.
Soo has been asked to speak several times
and share her conversion story at a local Sunday church and also to sing in
their choir. Please pray that she will be filled with the Holy Spirit and
bring them the message that God has for them in this closing hour. Pray for
the angels to surround and protect her. Thanks, Ethel

Study Says Marijuana is Far More

Front Lines Mission Report
“Truth and Consequences -- what happens when a man
transmits truth on television without a license”
STORY SUMMARY
Desperate to reach his town of 40,000 for Christ, man transmits ADvenir TV
signal for 8 months without a license. Response is so good that a new church
is formed. Government agents show up and seize his equipment but townspeople
block all roads and force “their station” equipment to be returned. He pays
government fine with much sacrifice and is willing to sell his house if
necessary to get station legally back on the air. Can we help him?
FULL STORY
“Leoncio, have you seen the Adventist TV network from Bolivia?” asked the
neighbor. “Since you manufacture TV transmitters for a living, I thought you
would be interested.”
Leoncio, who lives in a small town of 40,000 inhabitants in the cold
highlands slopes of the Andes mountains, quickly programmed the satellite
receiver with the appropriate parameters and began watching our ADvenir
Spanish Television. He would get up at 3am each morning to catch the morning
sermon and have personal devotions. Soon neighbors and friends were coming
over to watch and pray from 3am to 4am in the cold pre-dawn hours.
“Why should we enjoy this by ourselves,” Leoncio told his friends. “We could
easily transmit this over the air from our home for our entire town.” Within
a few weeks, the signal was on the air 24 hours a day.
“I know we don’t have a license,” commented Leoncio to a friend. “But
neither do the other 3 TV channels that are operating in town. Many TV
stations in small towns around our country begin transmitting before they
acquire licenses. Maybe someday God will help us afford the cost of getting
one.”
“Leoncio, stop!” shouted a policeman across the street a few weeks later.
“We all know you have begun transmitting that Christian TV station.”
“Yes, that’s true,” admitted Leoncio as a streak of worry spread across his
face.
Slapping him on the back, the police continued. “Thank you so much for what
you are doing. Our family is being highly blessed by the programs. We watch
it all day.”
Similar comments from friends and municipal authorities over the next eight
months encouraged Leoncio. He felt grateful to God for the privilege of
reaching so many of his townsmen for Christ. Thinking back on developments
over the last few months, he was amazed at how many people were searching
for answers in the Bible and through his broadcasting had decided to join
the church. He remembered warmly the day the church members had voted the
name of the church and hung the sign outside, “ADVenir Seventh-day Adventist
church”.
Leoncio’s reverie was suddenly interrupted by loud knocks on the door. As he
opened the door, two policemen and two federal agents rushed in. “You are
operating illegally. We are here to put a stop to your transmissions,” they
said and demanded that he show them the equipment. “You will be fined for
this as well,” they told him.
In shock, Leoncio watched the men turn off the power, unplug the equipment,
and take piece by piece out to their car outside until the entire studio was
gone. After they left, he fell on his knees, thanking God for the eight
months he had been given to transmit and asking Him to please send some way
to help recover his equipment.
Ring, ring, ring, the phone interrupted his prayer. “Leoncio, why is the
station off the air?” asked a neighbor. Again and again, people kept calling
to ask the same question. Leoncio had to explain to everyone what had
happened. Within minutes, word spread around town of what had happened.
While Leoncio was on the phone answering calls, he was unaware of the rapid
developments outside. Men and women quickly converged on all three roads
leading into town. They blocked each road so that no traffic could pass
without being searched. One of the cars that came down the road had four men
in it and was full of TV equipment.
“Why are you blocking the road?” asked the driver. We are government
authorities and you must move out of the way. Immediately everyone converged
on the vehicle and surrounded it.
“So you are the ones that took our station off the air,” several shouted
through the window. “If you wish to leave town, you must first take all
equipment back and return it.”
Imagine Leoncio’s surprise and gratefulness when he answered the door to
find four men with equipment in their arms standing outside his door.
A few weeks later, Leoncio received a letter in the mail from the government
with a fine (approx US$1,000) for transmitting without a license. It was
quite a sacrifice, but he managed to pay it in full.

A few days ago, brother Leoncio was present at a church where with tears in
his voice, he told me his story and expressed his strong desire to acquire a
license and go on the air again in order to continue reaching his townsmen.
He said he was willing to put his house up for sale in order to afford the
technical and licensing fees which could easily be about $15,000 dollars.
Brother Leoncio’s love for reaching people and willingness to sacrifice his
house touched my heart. When I shared his story with some missionary
friends, one of them immediately donated $700 to pay for the technical
study, a precursor to the license application. Though Brother Leoncio is
willing to sell his house, we are praying that won’t be necessary. Forty
thousand souls are eagerly waiting for “their” station to go back on the
air. We at GMI will be assisting him as funds are available. If God

To save souls should be the life work of every one who professes Christ. We
are debtors to the world for the grace given us of God, for the light which
has shone upon us, and for the discovered beauty and power of the truth.
Everywhere there is a tendency to substitute the work of organizations for
individual effort. Human wisdom tends to consolidation, to centralization,
to the building up of great churches and institutions. Multitudes leave to
institutions and organizations the work of benevolence; they excuse
themselves from contact with the world, and their hearts grow cold. They
become self-absorbed and unimpressible. Love for God and man dies out of the
soul. Christ commits to His followers an individual work,--a work that
cannot be done by proxy. Ministry to the sick and the poor, the giving of
the gospel to the lost, is not to be left to committees or organized
charities. Individual responsibility, individual effort, personal sacrifice,
is the requirement of the gospel.Christian Service, p. 10.
